About Kasol
Kasol is a small town in the district Kullu of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated in Parvati Valley, on the banks of the Parvati River, on the way between Bhuntar and Manikaran. It is located 30 km (19 mi) from Bhuntar and 3.5 km from Manikaran. Kasol is the Himalayan hotspot for backpackers like me and of course like you guys and acts as a base for nearby treks to Malana and Kheerganga. It is called Mini Israel of India due to the high percentage of Israeli tourists here.

How to reach Kasol in Budget
There are various ways to reach the beautiful valley destination. Let’s discuss all transportation options.
Flight:
If you are trying to reach Kasol via flight then you need to book a flight for Bhuntar this is the only and nearest airport available to Kasol. Bhuntar town is located almost 30km away from Kasol.
So, once you land there you need to book a cab to Kasol or you can use local transport. (Details are given in Local Transport Section). You can book your flight from Delhi at around 2k to 3k, based on how advanced you book the flight.
Train:
There is not a single train available to reach Kasol. You can only go up to Chandigarh and then again you need to book a bus from there. So, I suggest if you are coming from Delhi then directly book the bus from Delhi to Kasol as this option will be more convenient and budget-friendly.
Bus (In Budget):
Well coming from the bus is the best and most affordable means of transportation to Kasol. If you are coming from Delhi as I did then the bus cost will be around under Rs.800 only. Always try to book a bus from any private vendor like (Paytm or RedBus) as only private buses directly go to Kasol market.
All govt buses will drop you in Bhuntar town only and then you need to get a local bus/cab to reach Kasol.
Also, via bus, you will be able to see some of the beautiful views and routes of Delhi to Kasol. Try to take a seat on the right side because as per my observation most of the views come on the right side. However, in case you ain’t find any right side window seat then also you will see quite a beautiful view.
In any case, you are not able to get a private bus. Then no issue just book a govt bus from online official HRTC website which will cost you around Rs.1400. The bus will drop you at Bhuntar and then you need to get a mode of local transport or cab to reach Kasol.
If you are a budget traveler like me then a need a local transport option from Bhuntar to Kasol then I will recommend reaching in day time only as in the evening and night local transport is not available.
Local Transport and Stay Option in Budget
Transport:
From morning 6 am to evening 6 pm you will get the local transport in every 30-40min. By local transport means local buses. From Bhuntar, the local buses will take Rs. 70 to drop you at Kasol main market.
Also, if you would like to go to Manikarn, Bharsaini, Tosh, and Kalga you can simply just reach the main road and wait you will get the local buses available every 30min to 40min.
Hotel, Riverside Camps and Hostel:
From budget-friendly to luxury services, every kind of hotel/hostel and homestay is available in Kasol. However, as we are focusing on budget traveling so let’s discuss all the options below:
Budget option stats from Rs.300/night. Yes! you read it correctly Rs.300/night. Although, if you are planning to stay in Kasol main market then you need to spend a little more on your stay as the hotel are quite costly in Kasol main market rather than the nearby villages.
You can book a hostel, Riverside Camps, and River View Hotels in Kasol. Hostel per night cost will be Rs.300 to Rs.450 per night in almost all the season. I will recommend you book a hostel online as the availability percentage is very low.
You can book a hostel from Booking.com or any other travel website. Always make sure that if you book the hostel online then do complete the payment as well as the Booking.com will not ask you to pay first and if you don’t pay first and book your bed in a hostel then there will be a 100 percent chance that the hostel owner will give the bed someone else. So, always pay in advance.
There are many Budget hostel and homestay options available so you can choose as per the requirement. I will recommend choosing the Hostel available in Chalal Village or Katagla Village. Chalal Village distance from Kasol main market is around 1.5Km while Katagla Village distance is around 2.3KM
If you are looking to stay in riverside camps then the per night cost will be going all the way high to Rs.1500 to Rs.3000 per night based on the season in which you are visiting. We will discuss the best time to visit the Kasol in the next section.
The hotel will cost you around Rs.800 – Rs.1500 per night (Normal Hotels in Off-Season).
Two Main Reason to Choose the Hostel, Camps, and, Homestay in Chalal Village or Katagla Village
Reason 1 –
You will get the cheapest stay option there with the beautiful view.
Reason 2-
You can trek and view the two beautiful villages nearby to Kasol. (I have discussed this more in the Places to Visit in Kasol section.)
